Sucker spiders & Wacky webs

Materials

Spiders:

  • 1 small round sucker
  • 4 pieces of pipe cleaner (2 pipe cleaners cut in half)
  • 1 pony bead
  • Craft glue

    1. Cut off the sucker stick about " from the top of the sucker. (You may unwrap the sucker, but don't lick it!)

    2. Fold each piece of pipe cleaner in half. Wrap the pipe cleaner tightly around the sucker stick, just till the wire crosses itself. Twist the pipe cleaner 1 time close to the stick. Repeat for each pipe cleaner.

    3. Push the pipe cleaner pieces close together on the sucker stick. Bend the pipe cleaner pieces out to form the spider's legs and feet.

    4. Put a drop of glue on the end of the sucker stick and push the pony bead onto the end of the stick for the spider's head.
  • Web:

  • Cut 6-8 notches about " deep around the edge of the styrofoam piece

  • Wrap string from one notch to another until each notch has a piece of string going to it across the front of the styrofoam piece.

  • Weave the string under and over the wrapping strings done in step 3 until all the string is used up. Move from the outside of the styrofoam towards the center.

  • Attach the finished spider to the web.
